ARNPEI Council Meeting, February 5, 2010
Faye Kingdon, Project Manager, provided an update on the PEI Model of Care. Matthew Hogan, PEI Paramedics Association, provided an overview of scope of practice.
Mary provided an informal summary of the responses to the quality worklife questionnaire circulated to members in December. The Health Sector Council will be presenting a Quality Worklife: Quality Healthcare Forum with Barb Fry on March 24 at the Rodd Charlottetown Hotel.
There has been good feedback received on the “Exemplary Care” bookmarks that were circulated to each ARNPEI member.
Mary attended a session on a document recently released by CUPE entitled Residential long-term care in Canada: our vision for better seniors’ care. The document is available on the CUPE website at www.cupe.ca
CNA Biennial Convention 2010 (Innovation in Action: the Power of Nursing)
The CNA Biennium will be held in Halifax, June 7-9, 2010. ARNPEI will be sponsoring 10 members to attend which were determined by a draw.
The 2010 Annual Meeting will be held on April 30 at the Rodd Charlottetown Hotel. Jackie Doran-MacLeod, Consultant, Adult Protection, will be the speaker for the education session.
No nominations have been received for President-Elect and Vice-President; a councilor is also needed for Queen’s County.
UPEI School of Nursing
Council accepted the recommendation from the Nursing Education Program Advisory Committee for acceptance of the 2008 annual report. Teresa Hennebery submitted her resignation as Chair.
ARNPEI will provide each of the 2010 UPEI graduates with a copy of the “just a nurse” poster. The PR Committee is investigating media coverage aimed at promoting visibility of the RN.
Licensed Practical Nurses Registration Board - Three nominations are required to be submitted to the Minister of Health for ARNPEI representative on the LPN Registration Board.
